Мета:
- вчити учнів розповідати про улюблені свята, активізувати лексику за темою, навчити вживати дати в мові учнів;
- розвивати комунікативні навички учнів в роботі парами та групами; розвивати логічне мислення, пам’ять та увагу; розвивати навички читання, говоріння та аудіювання;
- виховувати шанобливе ставлення до традицій святкування національних свят; позитивне ставлення до вивчення англійської мови.
Обладнання: підручник, тематичні малюнки, картки для роботи в групах

Хід уроку
І. Початок уроку.
1.1. Привітанння. Організація класу.
T: Good morning children, I am glad to see you. How are you today?
Ps: We are fine, thank you!
1.2. Повідомлення теми і мети уроку
T: Let’s start our lesson. At our lesson I’ll show you lots of interesting things. The first one is the magic picture. Look at it, please. Look at it very attentively and tell me what can you see at it? (вчитель демонструє картинку, на якій намальовані: Christmas tree, presents, flowers, harts, cake with candles, mother and daughter, balloons)
Ps: I see a big Christmas tree / different presents / dancing people / beautiful flowers /red harts / cake with candles / mother and daughter / balloons.
T: You are right. Now try to guess what will we speak about? What is the topic of our lesson?
Ps: Christmas! Birthday! Holidays!
T: That’s right we are going to speak about our favourite holidays.

2.1 Актуалізація опорних знань учнів.

T: Let’s remind the names of the different holidays. Can you match them to their definitions? (учні у групах поєднують назву свята з його визначенням)(HO-1)
1. On this holiday we decorate a Christmas Tree. Christmas
2. On this holiday we dress as ghosts and witches. Halloween
3. It’s a day when we congratulate our mothers Women’s Day
4. It’s a day when you can hear “Happy Birthday” Birthday

2.2. Подання й відпрацювання нового грамматичного матеріалу: вживання дат в усному мовленні
1) Пояснення вчителя.
T: Usually when we speak about holidays we tell the date of the holiday. For example, tell me, please, when do we celebrate the New Year’s Day?
Ps: It is on the first of January.
T: That’s right. We write down the date in this way “on January, 1” but we say “on the first of January”. With dates we use only the preposition “on”.
2) Первинне закріплення.
T: Look, at your desks. You have such cards as mine. There are the dates of your birthdays. I’ll read the date and you have to listen, if you recognize the date of your birthday you’ll read the date from your card. (учні по черзі зачитують дати)
3) (Робота у малих групах)
T: Let’s remind the dates of the other holidays. Match holidays to their dates. (учні у групах поєднують свята з датами та по черзі називають їх) (HO-2)

2.3. Розвиток навичок аудіювання та читання.
1) Підготовчий етап: ex. 3, p.123
T: Open your books on p.123, ex.3. Match the words, and write down them to your copybooks.

2) Now I want you to listen to the dialogue very attentively and answer the question: What holiday is it about? (учні слухають запис та відповідають)
Ps: It is Thanksgiving Day.
3) Етап читання. Учні читають діалог за ролями.
T: You’ve listened to the dialogue and now let’ read it. And find the answer to the question: Why Thanksgiving day is so special for Melanie and her family? (учні читають діалог за ролями та відповідають)
Ps: It is so important for Melanie and her family because they spend time together.
3) Етап перевірки розуміння змісту тексту.
Т: Let’s check how you understand this dialogue.

2.4. Фізкультхвилинка.
T: Can wiggle your fingers?
P: Yes!
T: I wiggle my fingers, I wiggle my toes.
I wiggle my shoulders, I wiggle my nose.
Now the wiggles are out of me.
And I’m as still as still can be.
2.5. Розвиток навичок говоріння.
T: I know that all of you have your favourite holiday. Please, use the questions of ex.2, p.125 to tell us about it. (учні готуються 2 хвилини та розповідають про свої улюблені свята)
- What is your favourite holiday?
- When do you celebrate it?
- How do you prepare to this holiday?
- Do you invite guests?
- What do you usually do on this holiday?
2.6. Узагальнення й закріплення знань учнів.
T: Remind me, please, what winter holidays do you know? (Christmas, St. Valentine’s Day, New Year’s Day). What spring holidays do you know? (Women’s Day). What’s about autumn holidays? (Halloween and Thanksgiving day) What’s about summer holidays? (Independence Day of Ukraine)
III. Підсумок уроку.
